KULOC’s Chinese New Year Parade

Saturday 28th Febuary marked the beginning of the Year of the Rooster!

A massive parade took place on the streets of Vancouver in Canada with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau leading the procession through the city’s Chinatown.

London’s Trafalgar Square hosted thousands of people as the country experienced its biggest Chinese New Year celebration.

And a parade beginning at East Ayrshire Council’s headquarters and ending at the Dick Institute saw the celebrations brought to Ayrshire.

Police from the Ayrshire Police Division, council members, pupils from Grange Academy, Kilmarnock Academy, and from Loudon Academy worked with the Hong Lok Lion Dance Team and wowed onlookers with their colourful and exciting displays. A great success!

Gong hei fat choi! And good luck for the upcoming year.
