Grand Fondo world series cycling festival comes to Kilmarnock

Are you a passionate cyclist and want the opportunity to cycle on closed roads along with the professionals? Then you are in luck! April 29th and 30th will see a prestigious cycling festival taking place in Ayrshire – the first one of its kind outside of mainland Europe!


The festival includes a ‘Chrono’ which covers approximately 29km on Saturday 29th which is a qualifying event for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.




And on Sunday 30th, Ayrshire will host the first Marmotte Gran Fondo ever to be held outside of mainland Europe. This event is held over 86 miles (137km featuring 1535m of demanding climbs with up to 3000 participants).

The Tour of Ayrshire Chrono and Gran Fondo are qualifying events for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships (the Worlds). This event is one of the 19 qualifying events around the world, the only other qualifying event in the United Kingdom being held in Cambridgeshire. The top 25% of riders to finish in their age/gender classification will be invited by the UCI to compete in the Worlds, which is being held in Albi, France between August 27th and the 30th.
