Utopia Computers has put Kilmarnock on the map as the home of the UK’s best PCs, having picked up a prestigious award in a the heart of London at the celebrated PCR Awards.
Utopia, who build some of the world’s fastest computers from their HQ in Kilmarnock, collected the UK’s ‘Best System Builder’ award beating the country’s biggest computer firms to claim the top spot. The award winner, which is chosen by a panel of industry respected judges, is deemed to represent not only the best quality PCs, laptops and professional workstations, but also demonstrates the best business practices, customer care and warranties.
Utopia made the move to building its own-brand computers around five years ago and has since taken the world by storm. With an impressive client list, including the University of Cambridge, Florence University in Italy, the Ministry of Defence and multiple A-list games & film studios, it reads like a who’s who of technology users. While many people know Utopia for their gaming PCs, it’s their workstations that are causing a stir. These incredibly well engineered systems can cost in excess of £16,000, reaching new levels of performance and reliability, meaning their clients are moving away from traditional brands like Dell and HP to purchase systems from Kilmarnock based Utopia.
“The entire team at Utopia have been working towards this accolade for almost three years. We aimed to be the best computer manufacturer in the UK and here we are. It’s an amazing feeling to achieve our goal and I look forward to what the rest of 2017 will bring for Utopia.” said Andrew Robinson, Utopia’s Workstation Specialist, “We are currently developing a new workstation, that once launched, will see us gain an even further lead in front our competition, it really is a very exciting time for the business.”
“We are very proud to bring this award back to Kilmarnock. Once again it reminds our wonderful community that great things are happening in our town.” added Craig Hume MD at Utopia, “ Everyone here has so much passion and drive that the entire team look forward to continuing to help Kilmarnock be seen as a place of innovation and success. ”
With grand plans for expansion, Utopia aims to continue to lead the way in the UK when it comes to technology and has no plans to relocate away from Kilmarnock. “Everyone always asks if we are going to be moving to Glasgow or further afield, commented Mark Laurie, Marketing Director at Utopia. “The truth is, in 2017 Kilmarnock has everything that is needed for a successful technology company, good transport links, high speed internet and a hugely supportive business community. We look forward to expanding right here in our home town for many years to come.”
